10 highest mountains on the island of Java
1. Mount Semeru
Mount Semeru is one of the most beautiful and highest mountains on the island of
Java, Mount Semeru is administratively included in the territory of two
districts, namely Malang Regency and Lumajang Regency, East Java Province. This
mountain is included in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area. Mount
Semeru also has a place that is very captivating with its beauty, namely Lake
Ranu Kumbolo.
2. Mount Slamet
Mount Slamet is a cone volcano located on the island of Java, Indonesia, has an
altitude of 3,428 meters above sea level. Located between 5 districts, namely
Brebes Regency, Banyumas Regency, Purbalingga Regency, Tegal Regency, and
Pemalang Regency, Central Java Province. Mount Slamet is the highest mountain in
Central Java and the second highest in Java after Mount Semeru. Mount Slamet is
quite popular as a climbing target even though the terrain is known to be

Banyumas Regency.
3. Mount Arjuno
Mount Arjuno is a cone (resting) volcano in East Java, Indonesia with an
altitude of 3,339 m above sea level. Mount Arjuno is administratively located on
the border of Batu City, Malang Regency and Pasuruan Regency and is under the
management of the Raden Soerjo Forest Park. Mount Arjuno is the second highest
mountain in East Java after Mount Semeru, and is the fourth highest on the
island of Java. At the foot of Mount Arjuno there are many waterfall tourist
destinations. One of them is the Kakek Bodo waterfall
4. Mount Sumbing
Mount Sumbing is a volcano located in Central Java, Indonesia. (The height of
the peak is 3,371 masl), Mount Sumbing is the third highest mountain on the
island of Java after Mount Semeru and Mount Slamet. This mountain is
administratively located in three regencies, namely Magelang Regency; Temanggung
Regency; and Wonosobo District. Together with Mount Sindoro, Mount Sumbing forms
twin mountain landscapes, such as Mount Merapi and Mount Merbabu, when viewed
from the direction of Temanggung. The gap between this mountain and Mount
Sindoro is passed by a provincial road that connects the city of Temanggung and
the city of Wonosobo. This road is commonly known as the "Kledung Pass".

Mount Raung
Mount Raung (highest peak: 3,344 masl) [2] is a conical volcano located on the
eastern tip of Java Island, Indonesia. Administratively, this mountain area is
included in the territory of three districts in the Besuki region, East Java,
namely Banyuwangi, Bondowoso, and Jember. Geographically, the location of this
mountain is in the Ijen Mountains complex area and is the highest peak of the
mountain range. Calculated from the highest point, Mount Raung is the third
highest mountain in East Java after Mount Semeru and Mount Arjuno, and is the
fourth highest on the island of Java. The Mount Raung caldera is also the
largest dry caldera on the island of Java and the second largest in Indonesia
after Mount Tambora in West Nusa Tenggara.
6. Mount Lawu
Mount Lawu (3,265 MDPL) is located on the island of Java,
Indonesia, to be precise on the border of Central Java and East Java Provinces.
Mount Lawu is located between three districts, namely Karanganyar Regency,
Central Java, Ngawi Regency, and Magetan Regency, East Java. The status of this
mountain is a "resting" volcano (last estimated to have erupted on November 28,
1885) and has been dormant for a long time, seen from dense vegetation and an
eroded peak. On the slopes there is a small crater that still emits water vapor
(fumarole) and sulfur (solfatara) Mount Lawu has three peaks, namely Hargo
Dalem, Hargo Dumiling, and the highest peak called Hargo Dumilah.
Mount Welirang is an active volcano with an altitude of 3,156
m above sea level which is administratively located on the border of Batu City,
Pasuruan Regency, and Mojokerto Regency, East Java, Indonesia. Mount Welirang is
in the management of the Raden Soerjo Forest Park. Mount Welirang is adjacent to
Mount Arjuno, Mount Kembar I, and Mount Kembar II. The peak of Mount Welirang is
located on the same ridge as the peak of Mount Arjuno, so this complex is often
referred to as Arjuno-Welirang.
8. Mount Sindoro
Mount Sindoro, commonly called Sindara, or also Sundoro (The
peak height of 3,136 masl is an active volcanic mountain located in Central
Java, Indonesia, with Temanggung as the closest city. Mount Sindoro is located
side by side with Mount Sumbing. Mount Sindara can be seen clearly from the peak
of Sikunir Dieng. Craters with ravines can be found on the northwest side to the
south of the mountain, and the largest is called Kembang. A small lava dome
occupies the top of the volcano. The history of the eruption of Mount Sindara
that has occurred is mostly mild to moderate (phreatic eruptions).
9. Mount Merbabu
Administratively, this mountain is located in Magelang Regency
on the western slope and Boyolali Regency on the eastern and southern slopes,

10. Mount Kembar II
Mount Kembar II is a mountain located on the island of Java, Indonesia. Mount
Kembar II has a height of 3,126 meters. At the top of this mountain there is
also a fumarole area. Gunung Kembar II has Dipterocarp Hill forest, Upper
Dipterocarp forest, Montane forest, and Ericaceous forest or mountain forest.
This mountain is included in the Raden Soerjo Forest Park area and is located on
the same ridge as Mount Kembar I, Mount Arjuno, and Mount Welirang.
